 note = {Cognitive deficits and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia（BPSD） are typical features of patients with dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease（AD）, vascular dementia（VD）, and other forms of senile dementia.
Kampo medicine is used frequently against dementia. Orengedokuto and Chotosan are Kampo medicines that has been used clinically for the treatment of dementia.
Clinical evidence has demonstrated the potential usefulness of Orengedokuto and Chotosan, in the treatment of cognitive disturbance and BPSD in dementia patients.
In double-blind controlled study ,Chotosan was statistically superior to the placebo in global improvement rating, utility rating, global improvement rating of subjective symptoms, global improvement rating of psychiatric symptoms and global improvement rating of disturbance in daily living activities.
Efficacy and safety of some campo medicines for dementia has reported.
Kampo medicines for dementia is promising therapy which maintain QOL for patients and caregivers.
In conclusion, Orengedokuto and Chotosan are  useful option for the treatment of cognitive impairment in dementia.
Further extensive studies need to be conducted to elucidate in more detail mechanisms.},
